Surroundings
If you need a break from the stress and the traffic jams of
the big city, Lourges is a small peaceful town in the heart of Provence, between Nice and
Marseille - about 40 km from the Mediterrainean Sea.
The nearest larger town is Draguignan. Lorgues is situated on a small hillside
surrounded by oaks and pinewoods and wine fields. Lorgues has been known since
986 AD. Today it is a small town in the countryside with a population of 7.500
people, where life passes on slowly.

Every tuesday morning the main street of Lorgues transforms
into a traditional Provence market where one can buy almost anything.

The medieval town is surrounded by a wall with guardtowers, some of which
have been well preserved. One of the towers, Porte Citadelle (12th century)
is actually located in our own garden. You can find many other interesting
historical buildings in the town.
